“I believe that we are all contagious and how we operate in the world makes a difference for others. MUIH is committed to teaching students to be a healing presence, whether they are becoming an acupuncturist, nutritionist, coach, yoga therapist, herbal medicine practitioner, or public health advocate.”

What drew you to study health and wellness coaching as your healing discipline?

I believe we all have the right to our best health and well-being from a mind, body, and spirit connection. In struggling with and overcoming my own health and wellness challenges, I have learned the importance of creating a positive mindset, nourishment, and mindfulness. I wanted to expand my learning and understanding of different healing modalities, ways to make a greater impact with others and obtain a degree that would allow me to coach, teach, and inspire others. It is my passion and purpose to guide others to design their best life.

Why did you choose MUIH for your academic program?

I fell in love with the focus on being a healing presence, whether it was in my coaching program, nutrition classes, or in any of the other academic programs. I believe that we are all contagious and how we operate in the world makes a difference for others. MUIH is committed to teaching students to be a healing presence, whether they are becoming an acupuncturist, nutritionist, coach, yoga therapist, herbal medicine practitioner, or public health advocate. I also loved the faculty, courses offered, and focus on healing, well-being, and caring for the whole person—mind, body and spirit.

Describe your path since graduating:

I have created my own career and business as a coach, instructor, speaker, and author. I call myself a ‘Life Designer’ in that I help others to design their best life. I coach individuals, leaders, and groups around any area of their life that is important to them, usually focusing first on health and wellness. I teach courses within companies and doctor’s offices, and in the government and non-profit sectors, around mindfulness, nourishment, workplace wellbeing, mindset, and emotional intelligence. I speak to companies, groups and at conferences about mindset, health and well-being, and being a healing presence.

I also have been teaching and mentor coaching at MUIH and at Georgetown University. Lastly, I recently published my first book, Get a PhD in YOU (now on Amazon), which is all about coaching others to master their inner world so they can master their outer world.

What have you accomplished that is a result of the education and skills you received here?

In receiving a master’s degree in health and wellness coaching, I am now able to teach coaching courses at the university level, and in ascertaining my Associate Coaching Certification with the International Coach Federation, I am able to coach individuals and groups within the government.

What has been your most exciting or fulfilling professional experience to date?

Hands down: writing my first book, Get a PhD in YOU, and being asked to lead a three-day workshop in Costa Rica with a major thought leader on personal transformation, using my book and teachings.

Are you achieving your professional goals?

Yes, and then some…and I’m creating new ones that excite, scare, and enliven me, all the time.

What would you like to do next, professionally speaking?

My intention is to lead workshops all over the world using my book, to speak at conferences, have group coaching master-mind groups using my book and to eventually host a show that is all about healing presence and helping others to design their best life.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

MUIH is a gem. It will enhance and illuminate that sacred spark that is within you and looking to shine out. I am grateful and blessed to have received my degree and graduate education from such loving, wise, brilliant, caring, and incredible faculty and staff. My career and future has opened up because of my studies at MUIH.
