Dr. Kathy Warner
Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Department Chair for Nutrition and Herbal Medicine
After a long and courageous battle against breast cancer, Kathy passed away on October 17, 2021. She was the devoted wife of R. Dennis Warner and loving daughter of the late John and Ruth Barr. Kathy was born in Atlantic City, NJ on January 22, 1955, but spent most of her life in Silver Spring, Maryland. She is survived by her siblings John Barr, Dorry Barry, Mary Pat Hartlove, Brian Barr, and Noreen Naughton; also survived by 11 adored nieces and nephews and 6 great-nieces and nephews.
Aside from Kathy’s love of family and her beloved role as an aunt, she was a life-long learner and passionate about education; a graduate of Washington College, she went on to earn her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Kentucky and her passion for the Wildcats on the basketball court never wavered. She devoted her professional career to the sciences and academia. Kathy was never one to sit still and gave much of her time and talent to St. Bernadette’s, both the church and school and served as a Board Member at Elizabeth Seton High School.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s name to the St. Bernadette School Scholarship Fund, 70 University Blvd E, Silver Spring, MD 20901 or towards breast cancer research at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University, Georgetown University Gift Processing, Department 0734, Washington, DC 20073.
